Dance is good for the brain.

Some things to consider when Exams come up.

Exercise is very important. A teenagers brain especially needs a balance of exercise and fun.

According to studies:

Dancing makes us more intelligent. Dance lessons make you smarter.
Dancing reduces stress and depression levels.
Dancing can boost your self confidence
Dancing can help our memories
Dancers maximize cognitive function and muscle memory through practice.

Dancing improves brain function on a variety of levels. Different types of study show how different types of practice allows dancers to achieve peak performance by blending cerebral and cognitive thought processes with muscle memory and proprioception held in the cerebellum.

It is recommended not to study for long periods and to get in some exercise during study periods.

Please request a report at any time on your child’s progress.

All beginners should wear something loose and easy to dance in. A pair of runners is fine for a week or two.  When settled in I can fit your child with dance shoes. Dance gear is also available. Shorts/skirt,club top and dance socks.

All advanced students should wear their club dance gear to class. Shorts, tshirts, tank tops, socks.

Please remember in the colder months to bring along your club tracksuit to change in and out off. Also leg warmers or stirrups to keep ankles warm.

We hold an in class examination once a year for the beginners.

We also run the Coimisiun dance Examinations.  Dates to follow

Normal term classes are very regular and very rarely cancelled or disrupted. If any classes are cancelled everyone will be notified. Sometimes we may change children’s times around depending on what we are planning to work on. However this does not mean that everyone who dances in your class has a change. So just follow your own instructions, otherwise we end up with a lot of confused text messages.

Studio Classes: Some classes in the studio will run consecutively.  We do realize traffic can be bad in the evenings so please do not worry if you are delayed.

All other classes:  For classes held outside the studio in schools and halls it is important to be on time.  We usually are moving on to another class and must be on time for children and parents waiting on us.  I am sure you understand.

If you think you are going to be delayed please text us as early as you can and I am sure we can help out.    Thankyou

If you miss a class please feel free to make it up in any of the already arranged weekly classes in the studio. Unfortunately classes cannot be made up by taking a once of workshop or show class newly arranged.

We would ask that all mobile phones be turned off coming into the studio.  Leave your phone with the teacher and collect it at the end of class.

This is for the safety of your child.

Advanced students are affected by injuries more than the beginners. Please remind your children as we do, to stretch when they are warming up and also stretch as they are cooling down ready to go home.  We will continue to go over the stretches with them. The correct stretching in class can help to prevent injuries occurring.

I would advise on a regular basis that all the advanced dancers be seen at an all balance or a treatment session of some sort.  We do believe this can balance up the body which may be out of line and definitely help prevent injury before it happens.  You do have to remember these classes are strenuous. This fitness regime is a lot of hard work on the body at times.

There should never be a case of bullying in any Extra activity. Every child has the right to enjoy what they are doing without feeling afraid, anxious or belittled in any way.  Please do contact us if you ever feel your child is not happy and seems different in anyway coming to or from classes. Making a teacher aware of any small changes will always help.  This way we can help keep an eye for any misbehaving in the class. I believe no child intends to bully another.  Life gets in the way and sometimes all children need help and support.   Please  inform us if there are any changes at home or in your child’s life. It is important for us to be aware of how they are feeling and not to always have a heavy class planned. For the older girls we understand there will be times of the month when you are not feeling up to classes.  Drop us a hint so we know when to pull back.

COMPETITION ENTRIES

Class feis’s may be paid by sending fee requested in an enclosed envelope with child’s name and class on the front of envelope.Open competitions for grade feis’s are usually paid on the day of feis.

When you arrive at the feis there is usually a table at the back of the hall with people taking the entries for that Feis.  You enter your child’s name and the name of the school  Fegan Academy.   Pre entry competitions:  Please follow instructions for all pre entered Feis’s.  Unfortunately we do not make the deadlines and we must have Feis entries off in time. There may be an extra charge put on your entry to cover costs of that particular entry, postage, exchange of money visa charges etc.

Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions. Please note we do not have our phones during classes. Some people would say I never have my phone ha ha! Really I do loose it a lot. Your child is of the utmost importance to us and our whole attention is given to the class at all times. Even though sometimes people think things go unnoticed they don’t. As I am sure most parents know there is a time for noticing and a time for a blind eye.

If you would like to meet with us about anything at all please feel free to make an appointment or contact us by text and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Payments

Please note we are very flexible with payments and never put anyone under pressure even when we ourselves are under pressure to make payments. We do however expect full payment for excellent classes and care given and also any goods given from the dance shop.

I have this gift for never forgetting who owes us money. I have a requirement, that no matter what happens between us that I do like all payments to be made for services and goods. Even if you have moved on from our school I expect the respect we have given you to be returned by making your payment in full thus completing our time together.
